Marie J. Ross

Ms. Marie J. Ross was raised in Stockton. Her interest in poetry began when her husband suffered from a long illness. Ms. Ross has read her poetry at various open mics in the Central Valley. She has been published in the anthologies Sun Shadow Mountain, (Poetry and Art Anthology, available at this link in both paperback and hardcover, depending which you click for there.) and the Ina Coolbrith Circle Ten. She has won awards; her proudest moment was reading the third place poem “Pink Toe Shoes” from an International Contest: Artist Embassy International Dancing Poetry Contest at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. She has a heartfelt interest in helping promote new poets in the community and beyond. Ms. Ross has read her poetry at open-mic venues locally and in the Central Valley, and is a published poet. Her published works have appeared in Rattlesnake Press, Shadows Ink, Poetry Now, Sun Shadow Moutain, Song of San Joaquin, Whispers Along The Delta, and upcoming publication in Manzanita (Anthology of Prose and Poetry of the Motherlode). Her poem “Oh Honored Stone” is inscribed at the Veterans Memorial Plaza in Lodi, California. She has a recently published book collaboration with Elizabeth J. Parrish entitled Lavender Fields.
